Abstract
- The combined effects of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and polarization dependent loss (PDL) on pulse narrowing are considered for analysis. A multivariable search algorithm capable of finding optimum values of angle describing the input linear polarization, input frequency and PDL that influence pulse narrowing is presented and compared with single variable search algorithm. The multivariable search algorithm resulted in a pulsewidth reduction of 33.49% compared to 31.4% in single variable search algorithm, achieving a further reduction of 2.09%.
