Mites of the Genus Torotrogla (Prostigmata: Syringophilidae) From North American Passerines

Abstract
- Five new quill mite species of the genus Torotrogla</it> (Acari: Syringophilidae) are described from North American passerines: T. aphelocoma</it> sp.n. from Aphelocoma californica</it> (Corvidae) and T. cardinalis</it> sp.n. from Cardinalis cardinalis</it> (Cardinalidae) in Texas; and T. coccothraustes</it> sp.n. from Coccothraustes vespertinus</it> (Fringillidae), T. cyanocitta</it> sp.n. from Cyanocitta stelleri</it> (Corvidae), and T. piranga</it> sp.n. from Piranga ludoviciana</it> (Thraupidae) in California. A key to females of all known Torotrogla</it> spp. and a table with their host associations and distributions are given.
