Abstract
- In this paper we have designed and simulated two methods for 40 GHz and 60 GHz double side band suppressed carrier (DSBSC) Millimeter waves generated via optical subcarrier multiplication and secondly through biasing dual arm MZM modulator at its minimum bias point . We also up convert 622 Mb/s data in mm wave band over these carriers using sub carrier multiplication and intensity modulation. Millimeter wave generation and data up conversion is analyzed both in electrical and optical domain under different parameters to verify the results. We also investigate the data distribution over these generated mm waves for different spool of fiber links and demonstrate the system simplicity, efficiency in terms of bit error rate received signal power as function of distance, system immunity to dispersion and modulation depth. According to our simulation results the transmission distance is limited by fiber dispersion because of the walkoff effect between two sidebands when the signal is modulated on both sidebands.
