One of the questions to be answered for virtually every book is the nature of the reader for whom it would be best suited. Another question is whether an additional book might be necessary or desirable to supplement the scope of the book in question—as a sort of textual magnifying glass. A general caution is appropriate here: an incomplete account may at times be as hazardous as a false account-the omission of relevant material in an incomplete account has the same effect as an account which by its silence can be misleading.
