Abstract

All cases at this meeting were presented by Dr. Louis A. Brunsting, Dr. Hamilton Montgomery, Dr. Robert R. Kierland, Dr. Harold Perry, and Dr. R. K. Winkelmann.Xanthoma Tuberosum, Idiopathic Hypercholesterolemia.DiscussionDr. J. E. McCleary, Rochester: This patient is one of a group of patients that we have been following for some time, who have xanthomatous eruptions associated with elevated blood lipids, in whom the onset of the eruption occurred on or before the age of 16. In this particular group there are 11 patients with xanthoma tuberosum with idiopathic hypercholesterolemia. In this group of 11 patients, 7 have had angina and 3 patients are known to be dead. A brother and a sister died from myocardial infarcts at the age of 14 and 7½ years, respectively. Another patient died at 42 from a heart attack. A young woman was last heard of at the age of
