Review of the genus Harpalejeunea(Lejeuneaceae) including the description of H. grandis,a new species from the paramos of Colombia

AbstractThe generic delimitation of Harpalejeuneais discussed. A description and illustration of H. grandisGrolle & Reiner from páramos of Colombia is given. It is treated as the type of a new subgenus CleefiolejeuneaGrolle & Reiner with a cortex of ventral merophytes four cells wide. The true and excluded Harpalejeuneataxa are separately listed with types, including designations of 15 new lectotypes and a neotype for Lejeunea paratropaSpruce. Fourteen names are newly synonymized and the following new combinations are proposed: Cheilolejeunea curvatiloba(Herzog) Grolle, comb. nov. (Harpalejeunea curvatilobaHerzog 1955), Echinocolea asprella(Spruce) Grolle, comb. nov. (Lejeunea asprellaSpruce 1884), E. subspathulata(Spruce) Grolle, comb. nov. (H. kinabaluensisMizut. 1973), M. mammillosa(Mizut.) Grolle, comb. nov. (H. mammillosaMizut. 1973), M. minutissima(Mizut.) Grolle, comb. nov. (H. minutissimaMizut. 1973) and M. spinosa(Mizut.)
