Abstract

In this experimental research the effect of CCl{in4} on liver and, specifically, the mechanism of its hepatotoxic activity, was investigated. The urine catecholamines of a group of animals, under the effects of chronic administration of hypotoxic CCl{in4} doses, were also measured, together with the fluctuations of SGPT and blood glucose. It was ascertained that an increase in the SGPT values appears much earlier in the catecholamine values; this agrees with the idea that the hepatotoxicity of CCl{in4} is mainly die to a direct effect on the organs rather than to the contraction of the endohepatic vessels following the stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, resulting to the anoxic condition of the cells.
