Abstract

Abstract: Two long-lived excited level contributions are evidenced in the emission spectra of substitutional<superscript>57</superscript>Fe<superscript>2+</superscript> ions in CaF<subscript>2</subscript>. One originates from the Γ<subscript>4</subscript> triplet of the<superscript>5</superscript>E state, whose relaxation properties are analysed by absorption spectroscopy and the other is probably emitted by the lowest Γ<subscript>5</subscript> triplet of the<superscript>5</superscript>T<subscript>2</subscript> state. Other after-effects, including a Fe<superscript>+</superscript> state, are observed.
