Abstract

The homogenized samples are decomposed with a mixture of HNO<subscript>3</subscript>/HF in teflon vessels under pressure. The determination of mercury is carried out with an atomic absorption spectrophotometer by means of the cold-vapour technique. The limit of detection is 0.1 µg/g for a 200 mg sample. A relative standard deviation of 2.7–5.6% is achieved in the working range of 10–100 ng mercury. Mercury contents of <0.1–187 µg/g were found in the samples.
