Abstract

A few systems for determining the saprobic and trophic degree are compared. In determining saprobity the saprobic index according to Dresscher & Van der Mark (1976) appears to be in good agreement with the system developed by Zelinka & Marvan (1961). In defining the trophic degree there is an obvious correspondence between the systems of Hutchinson (1967) and Rawson (1956) and the chemical characterization of the water.
