Abstract
- In a experiment at the CERN SPS charged hyperon beam using incident ?<superscript>-</superscript>, we have obtained evidence for the production of two O<superscript>*</superscript> resonances decaying into ?<superscript>-</superscript>p<superscript>+</superscript>K<superscript>-</superscript>, with the following parameters:M<subscript>1</subscript>=2251±12,G<subscript>1</subscript>=48±20 MeV/c<superscript>2</superscript>, 78 ±23 events, andM<subscript>2</subscript>=2284±12,G<subscript>2</subscript>=26±23 MeV/c<superscript>2</superscript> 45±10 events. The first state is also observed as a 4.2s effect in a subsample which contains an additionalK<superscript>+</superscript> orK<superscript>0</superscript> in the final state. Production cross sections and branching ratios to ?<superscript>*</superscript>K<superscript>-</superscript> and ?<superscript>-</superscript>K<superscript>*</superscript> are presented.
