Abstract

OsO<subscript>4</subscript> reacts with imidazolidine-2-thione and itsN-methyl andN-ethyl derivatives in acidified 1:1 vol. H<subscript>2</subscript>O:EtOH to give [OsL<subscript>6</subscript>]<superscript>3+</superscript>. Complexes obtained in the presence of HClO<subscript>4</subscript> or HBF<subscript>4</subscript> have been isolated as crystals and characterized by elemental analysis, i.r. spectroscopy and magnetic measurements.
