Application of the laser velocimeter in supersonic wind tunnel

Abstract: This paper deals with the usability of laser velocimeters in supersonic flow field studies. Problems of the optical setup stability are considered as well as possibilities of data acquisition and evaluation. It is demonstrated that dust particles always present in the air are well suited as tracers for the flow velocity. The behaviour of these particles is studied in a rapidly decelerated flow.
