Abstract

Abstract.: This work focuses on the experimental search and characterisation of the super-heavy <superscript>7</superscript>H, using a one-proton transfer reaction <superscript>12</superscript>C(<superscript>8</superscript>He,<superscript>7</superscript>H)<superscript>13</superscript>N. A <superscript>8</superscript>He primary beam at 15.4 A MeV was delivered by the GANIL-SPIRAL facility and impinged on a gaseous carbon target, the active target MAYA, where <superscript>7</superscript>H was produced and detected. <superscript>7</superscript>H was observed as a resonance 0.57<superscript>+0.42</superscript><subscript>-0.21</subscript> MeV above the <superscript>3</superscript>H+4n subsystem mass, with an associated width of 0.09<superscript>+0.94</superscript><subscript>-0.06</subscript> MeV. The differential cross-section of <superscript>7</superscript>H production for the <superscript>12</superscript>C(<superscript>8</superscript>He,<superscript>7</superscript>H)<superscript>13</superscript>N reaction yields 40.1<superscript>+58.0</superscript><subscript>-30.6</subscript> μb/sr. This experiment demonstrates the advantage of using the active target technique particularly well suited for the detection of low energy residues.
