Abstract

The authors reported four cases of horizontal homonymous sectoranopia (HHS) caused by damage in a more proximal visual pathway than LGB and they speculated upon the mechanism of HHS. (1) Visual field defects of all cases showed a rather high congruity. (2) Neither sectorial optic atrophies nor nerve fiber bundle defects were seen in any of the cases. (3) (1) and (2) are very important clues to differentiate the site of a lesion between the lateral geniculate body and the proximal part of the visual pathway.
