Abstract
- Defects generated in single crystals of RbClO4by gamma irradiation at room temperature have been studied using the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. The defects are assigned as ClO2, ClO3and O3-. Hyperfine coupling constants and g-values have been determined and discussed by comparing the results with previous studies of X- or gamma-irradiated earth alkali chlorates and perchlorates. It has been found that there are two chemically identical but magnetically distinguishable sites for ClO2and ClO3, whereas only a single site is observed for O3-. It should also be added that all the signals decrease by heating and by UV light treatment.
