Abstract

The article reports on the discovery of a new cytotype among a population of mole rats Nannopalax xanthodon inhabiting southeastern Anatolia, Turkey. Topics discussed include C-banding and NOR distribution pattern among N. xanthodon's population in the area and the characteristics of the new cytotype that has 2n=46 chromosomes. Also mentioned is the possibility of chromosomal variation between mole rat populations in the region.
