The Burden of Proof: Gender, Cultural Authenticity and Overseas Chinese Women's Education in Diaspora.

The article discusses gender, discursive emphasis on the importance of cultural authenticity, and education of overseas Chinese women in diaspora, and explores the interaction of national and imperial priorities that produced certain expectations of women, particularly in Malaya and Singapore.
