Equine on-farm welfare assessment: a review of animal-based indicators.

The article presents research which examined the welfare of horses and donkeys in Europe. Topivs covered include the adaptability of the animals to various activities in the equine industry and importance of their adaptability to the economic sector. Also mentioned is the Animal Welfare Indicators project to launch on-farm welfare assessment protocol for equines.
