The article reports on the global prevalence of occupational diseases and associated deaths and reports on global initiatives which have been implemented to improve workplace safety and protect the rights of employees. In the article the authors reflect on strategies, including developing workplace norms, having human resource personnel enforce the norms and creating cooperation between business and the government, which can be used to improve occupational health and reduce occupational disease.
