Abstract

The article presents a handout on the role of families and schools in helping families minimize the effects of parental separations related to immigration in the U.S. It discusses the risk of immigration for children's performance and mental health concerns. It offers suggestions in preparing for the separation, during the separation, and in facilitating reunification. Tips on helping children at school during the adjustments are also given.
