Abstract

The article focuses on the Southeast Quality Milk Initiative (SQMI) in the Southeast region of the U.S. which aims help dairy farmers to reduce mastitis and lower bulk tank somatic cell counts (SCC) using cost-effective control strategies. Topics discussed include the objectives of SQMI, the research conducted by the initiative to about 2,000 dairy producers in the region, and the University of Kentucky (UK) SQMI Milk Quality Economic Opportunity Dashboard.
