Abstract

The article discusses ways to address the potential problem of oil trains delivering hazardous materials through Minnesota. Topics include calling the State Duty Officer as a fire incident progresses or the chemical assistance team (CAT), the fire chiefs assistance and support (FAST) team or Incident Management Team (IMT). It also notes classroom presentations of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) including flagging procedures, emergency methods and tank car damage assessment.
