THE VELETA STORY.

The article presents the story of veleta and its creator Arthur Morris. He arranged the Old Time sequence dance known as veleta around 1898 and used it to train his pupils and entered it in the 1900 inventive competition of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (BATD). The dance did not win but became a championship dance under the rules of the then Official Board of Ballroom Dancing. Morris became the vice president of BATD in 1900 and musical director until 1916.
