Abstract

This article discusses approaches to the resolution of lexical ambiguity in Tamil language. The three basic types of lexical ambiguity are category ambiguity, ambiguity due to homography and ambiguity due to ploysemy. The resolution of ambiguity is known as the central problem in language comprehension as well as natural language processing applications. Resolving lexical ambiguity can involve different kinds of information such as word-specific information and contextual information.
