Abstract

In this article, the author reflects on the absence of energy in poems in relation to emotions, expressions and knowledge. Topics discussed include the importance of a fresh and original concept to bring conceptual energy by referring to the works of poet Suzanne Lummis, importance of rhythm in poems to generate rhythmic energy by referring to the works of poet Philip Levine, and the need for strong emotion coupled with good poetic technique by referring to the works of poet Ezra Pound.
