An Integrated Review of Simulation Use in Aeromedical Evacuation Training.

Abstract: For decades, health care, pilots, firefighters, and other professionals have used simulation to train because they can learn, practice, and perform new, high-risk or low-volume skills and procedures in a “safe” environment. Most military combat casualties are transported by aeromedical evacuation to receive medical care. We conducted an integrated review of the research literature to examine the uses and efficacy of simulation in training aeromedical evacuation crew members who work in a military or civilian setting. In this paper, we review research literature regarding the topic and describe four research gaps regarding use of simulation training in aeromedical evacuation. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
