Abstract

Highlights: [•] The effects of CO<subscript>2</subscript> and H<subscript>2</subscript>S attack on pozzolan-amended wellbore cement under geologic carbon storage conditions are examined. [•] Iron-rich particles from pozzolan additives make pozzolan-amended wellbore cement prone to H<subscript>2</subscript>S attack. [•] 35 pozzolan vol% wellbore cement is more resistant to CO<subscript>2</subscript> and H<subscript>2</subscript>S attack than 65 pozzolan vol% wellbore cement. [•] CO<subscript>2</subscript> and H<subscript>2</subscript>S alteration of pozzolan-amended wellbore cement does not indicate mechanical strength loss. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
