Abstract
- The article focuses on the study on the implication of the creation of the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb), by the federal government in Brazil, on education in the country. It states that Ideb is the quality indicator formulated to assess the education provided in the country and by each unit of the municipality, Federation, and public schools. It concludes that the schools which supply for students of a less privileged socioeconomic background show poor results.
