Abstract
- The article discusses the Chhau Dance, a form of traditional folk dancing in India, and examines the reasons why it is not practiced as much as it once was despite the fact it is considered a part of India's intangible cultural heritage (ICH). Topics discussed include the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) 2010 decision to grant ICH status to Chhau, cultural preservation attempts for the dance, and the economic conditions of dancers and teachers.
