The article discusses the decision of Canada's Federal Court which invalidated the official mark of Parma, Italy-based consortium of ham producers Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma claiming that it was not under control of any Canadian government. It states that food processing company Maple Leaf Foods Inc. has applied for registration of the mark Parma & Design in 1994 but was refused by the court on the basis that the mark was rendered to Consorzio.
