Morphometric study of the spinal cord in foetuses of diabetic pregnancies.

The article presents a study which analyzes the effects of maternal diabetes on the spinal cord of fetus. It states that 16 adult pregnant rats were into two groups in which diabetes was induced in one group by alloxa and the other group served as a control. The results revealed that transverse diameter of the spinal cord and central canal decreased while vertical diameter of the spinal cord and central canal increased in the fetus of diabetic mothers as compared to the control group.
