Abstract

The article offers information on the evolution of the manifest disregard of law doctrine by the International Commercial Disputes Committee (the Committee) for arbitrating international commercial disputes in New York. It informs that the manifest disregard doctrine is used for rendering an arbitrational award in the U.S. It discusses the U.S. Supreme Court case Wilko v. Swan regarding interpretations of the law by the arbitrators under the Federal Arbitration Act.
