The article reports on a presentation on the digital reconstruction of shredded documents by archivists Juliane Schütterle and Andreas Petter, given at a colloquium on the preservation and restoration of damaged library and archival materials in Weimar, Germany, on November 7, 2012. Issues addressed included the archival appraisal of documents of the East German Staatssicherheitsdienst (Security Service, Stasi), automated cataloging, and archival processing.
