Abstract
- In this article, the author examines the ways in which archaeological and legal interests in hoards intersect in Great Britain. The author examines several laws regarding archaeological assemblages, including the Treasure Act of 1996 and the Portable Antiquities Scheme, focusing on these laws' ability to meet, complement and support the needs of archaeologists. The question of whether the public can be expected to a play a role in the collection and protection of hoards is also addressed.
