Abstract

Executive Summary. The present study examines the lingering impact of abusive supervision on positive behaviors. We tested a time lagged mediated model of abuse on task- and person-focused organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) through interaction frequency with one's supervisor and perceptions of organizational politics using a sample of 111 employee-supervisor dyads collected over a one year period. Findings suggest that subordinates' interaction frequency perceptions of politics mediated the relationships from abuse to both forms of OCB measured time 2 after controlling for OCB at time 1. Managerial implications, limitations, and directions for future research are offered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
