Abstract
- The article extends previous accounts of the construction of gendered racial identities on the reality television program "America's Next Top Model" (ANTM), by examining the emotional cost and labor involved in inhabiting the double bind of ethnic identity identified by Mary Thompson. An analysis of the confrontation between the ANTM host Tyra Banks and an ANTM contender called Tiffany, based on positioning feeling as an experience of the embodied subject, is also presented.
