Abstract

The article discusses the results of a study which monitors the predators, nest survival, and breeding performance of Booted Warbler Iduna caligata living in the abandoned fields in Vologda, Russia. Daily survival rates (DSR) of birds were modeled by analyzing 250 nests recorded in 2002-2011. The results showed that inter-seasonal variability as the key component of DSR variation. The study indicated the key predators of Booted Warbler include carnivorous mammals such as Common Viper, Harriers, and corvids. It also mentioned the impact of intra- and inter-annual fluctuations in predator activity on nest success of Booted Warbler.
