Abstract
- The article presents the study which examined the presence of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae in bronchial alveolar swabs, frozen tissues and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) swine lung samples. It claims that M. hyopneumoniae is the main cause of pulmonary diseases in pigs. The aim of the study is to evaluate the feasibility of using FFPE samples for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detection of M. hyopneumoniae through the comparison of refrigerated tissue and swab pulmonary samples with samples that have undergone formalin fixation and paraffin embedding.
