Abstract

The article discusses the increasing importance of the use of tunnels and underground infrastructure for transport, utilities and living, as the world population is increasing. It is stated that building downwards has become a vital need for industrial projects; and municipal authorities need to mandate that all plans for infrastructure development in cities should include a detailed study of an underground option. Underground projects are popular in Hong Kong, China, and Singapore.
