Abstract
- The article explores the preventive measures being undertaken by New York utilities to better equip their systems against natural calamities. AC Electric in South Jersey was able to restore power after Hurricane Sandy as the utility prepared in advance in preparation for Sandy's arrival, which included checking inventories and retaining additional call center support. A five-year, 300-million dollars System Resiliency plan was developed by CL&P to strengthen its infrastructure.
