Abstract
- The article discusses in situ conservation of different types of host plant species in which muga silkworm feeds to boost muga silk production. It is said to be becoming highly difficult to collect wild muga cocoons because of rapid deforestation. Heterozygous nature in harsh conditions is revealed by wild muga silkworms. It is noted that conservation of muga silkworms in in-situ habitats is very essential for management of genetic sources of muga silkworms.
