Abstract

The article focuses on the lack of banks along Webster Avenue in Norwood, Bronx, New York City. The Bronx stands as the most underbanked borough in the city and the second-most-underbanked county in the country. Critics claim that banks avoid poor neighborhoods due to little potential profit while banks argue that low-income residents cannot meet the minimum requirements for account maintenance. Factors challenging the establishment of banks include undocumented migrants and increase in crime.
