Abstract

The article discusses the history of treason against individual states in America, focusing on state sovereignty, criminal punishment, and analyses of various state treason laws from the colonial period through June 2012. It states that American treason law was developed based on English common law. The American Constitutional Convention is addressed, along with an examination of the debate on whether an individual state can define and punish treason.
