Abstract
- The author discusses her memories of watching operas at La Scala in Milan, Italy and her regret of not seeing live the 1955 performance of Maria Callas in "La traviata." She recalls her family donating the marble bust of Italian conductor Arturo Toscanini to La Scala. Some of the composers she adored included Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Giuseppe Verdi. She considers the live recording of Callas in "La traviata" as her yardstick.
