Abstract
- The article presents a study which compares the structural characteristics and evolution of the Protobothrops elegans pancreatic phospholipase (PePancPL) A<subscript>2</subscript> gene with Protobothrops genus venom phospholipase A<subscript>2</subscript> genes. The study uses inverted polymerase chain reaction (PRC) technique, nucleotide sequence, and phylogenetic analysis to determine the difference between the two genes. Results show that venom PLA<subscript>2</subscript> are dissimilar to Protobothrops genus (Crotalinae).
