Abstract
- The article discusses the papers of the Irish Property Losses Committee, held at the National Archives of Ireland, which include claims filed by householders and business owners who lost property in Ireland's Easter Rising of 1916. It examines fighting centered around the Moore Street area and the General Post Office (GPO) in Dublin, Ireland. The author considers the destruction of houses and the continued closure and relocation of businesses after the fighting had ceased. The role of the Dublin Fire and Property Losses Association, formed by businessman William Martin Murphy to cope with the losses, is addressed.
