Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Project Agency's (DARPA) Legged Squad Support System (LS3) has been evaluated during a two-week test conducted with the U.S. Marine Corps' Warfighting Laboratory in Virginia. DARPA is developing LS3 to help soldiers carry heavy equipment and supplies. Areas of focus for the programme, which are mobility, perception, and human-robot interaction, are discussed.
