Abstract

Abstract: As smart grid promoted in China, Internet services are increasingly finding their way to home applications and gradually changing the traditional lifestyles. The home gateway is identified as a major component of the smart home network, which acts as a single point of connection between the home and outside world. In order to guarantee quality for the services including IPTV and VoIP, which requires high bandwidth and real-time support, the QoS guaranteed mechanism in home gateway should be considered. In this paper, a mechanism of home gateway is proposed to extend smart home network to be compatible for smart grid integration. The proposed mechanism classifies the traffic and manages resources by utilizing a novel scheduling algorithm to meet the user requirements on the home network QoS. Through the experiments of implementing the mechanism, performances of the proposed mechanism such as loss ratio, packets delay, and jitter are obtained. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
