Study on Parallel Scheduling for Online Backup Service.

Abstract: Data backup can realize quick data recovery in case of system crash. With the popularity of Software as a service (Saas), online backup service has becoming a hot topic within cloud storage. How to establish efficient connection between massive users and storage nodes, so as to achieve systematical load-balance, to obtain high utilization of network and storage is a crucial problem. This paper proposed two scheduling strategies from the aspects of scheduling by job and object respectively, one is real-time scheduling and the other is long-run scheduling. Experimental analysis demonstrated that long-run scheduling can improve the whole performance of online backup service greatly. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
